CartDash is a mobile application that strives to make ‘brick and mortar’ shopping experience as seamless as online stores. The idea originated from AR/VR experimentation where you are immersed in a virtual world disguised as your local store. The idea evolved into a three step mobile application process to complete your transactions: check-in, shopping, and checkout. The design process was simplified by addressing the three main pain points below to unify the online and ‘brick and mortar’ stores together.
If there were too many clicks to accomplish a task, the user would be disengaged, abandon the application and continue with traditional shopping methods. Navigation was complicated by the traditional online menu and cart system. An interactive home button called OnePress was created to address the complexity with single button press combinations in order to scan an item, access the menu and initiate the checkout process.
Online store methods of adding and removing items from your digital cart is a detailed task that wasn’t universal across the board. The method is simplified and reduced significantly with the OnePress button. You tap the OnePress button to scan an item in order to be placed in your physical and digital cart at the same time. If you change your mind, remove the item from your physical cart, tap the OnePress button to scan item in order to remove from your digital cart to complete the process.
Checkout process is long and potential theft results from external means of ‘cheating’ the system. The potential was recognized and CartEye was created to address these concerns. CartEye is a security system where you photograph left, back, and right side of the cart for security authentication. After the security authentication, the checkout process becomes effortless. You can checkout anywhere in the store at anytime and skip the process of waiting in line.
